One of the more popular mods being created for Half-Life: Alyx are overhauls of the base game. These mods take the assets from the campaign and craft a brand-new story experience, usually only a few hours long. C17yScape consists of several parts and takes place in City 17 between the events of Alxy and Half-Life 2.
Taken as a prison, you are tasked with escaping from a Combine-occupied building. The story is about escaping City 17, with new scripted events, game mechanics, and much more. Return to Rapture is a seven-part mod that brings the world of BioShock to VR in a completely new side campaign for Half-Life: Alyx. If you’ve ever wanted to explore Rapture in horrifyingly close detail, then this is the mod for you. Using components from the main game, Rapture has been made and you can explore several levels of the claustrophobic environment.
At a basic level, the amount of work that went into creating this is both confounding and impressive. How they’ve managed to do this, is truly magnificent. There’s a new soundtrack created for this, along with dialogues, Plasmids, and so much more. 6Unpin Ragdolls By Mettle Meek
As you might be aware, messing with physics is something Valve games do to tremendous effect, and in spades. If you’ve ever wanted to make more use of the ragdoll physics in Alyx, then you’ll absolutely adore this mod. In the base game, enemy bodies are somewhat pinned to the ground and can’t easily be grabbed, pulled, or picked up.

That is where this mod comes in. Unpin Ragdolls does exactly what it says on the tin: you can now pick up dead foes to your heart’s content and use them as body shields, throw them off of tall places, generally mess them around, and do whatever else you want. This mod will add Gordon’s iconic crowbar into the game, complete with impact physics and damage. You’ll get the crowbar at the start of each map, meaning you have to pick it up each time you begin a level. Within this range, you can use every weapon, and grenade, and test it against several enemies in the game. We only recommend using this mod if you’ve completed the game and want to mess around in another playthrough, simply because it comes with cheats you’re able to toggle on and off. Think of this as a command console from other Valve games, that lets you spawn in enemies, weapons, ammo, resin, and everything else you could want to trivialise any playthrough.
Download the mod and you may use it as soon as you start playing./ All you need to do is hold the trigger on your headset’s controller and bring it up to your ear to make the menu spawn. According to reviews on Steam, this mod is the best of the best. It’s another complete overhaul of the game, adding a brand-new campaign and story to follow. It is completely fan-made, and it picks up immediately after the end of the main campaign in Alyx.
Without giving too much away, this campaign has hours of new content, voice lines, and animations. Due to the topic of Levitation’s story, we won’t discuss the inner details since it reveals too much about the ending of Half-Life: Alyx.
