The Rauta is a lever-action shotgun that heavily biases status chance, featuring a rather high 12% status chance per pellet. The critical stats on this weapon are subpar, so it’s highly recommended that youbuild around status effects.

Unlike other shotguns, the Rauta can build up your melee combo counter.Every pellet that lands on a target increases your melee combo count by +2, up to a max of +28 per shot.Increasing your multishot or punch through stats is recommended to easily hit this cap. Additionally, if wielded by Kullervo, your melee combo count lasts for eight more seconds before it decays.

Rauta Build

The Rauta’s greatest strength is its utility with melee weapons, acting as a sort of stat stick to boost your melee weapon effectiveness. We’re going to double down on this with our Rauta build, focusing oninflicting as many status effects as possible to boost our melee weapon’s damage output. If you’re more interested in having a hard-hitting shotgun, you’d be much better offusing the Hekor Tenet Arca Plasmor instead.

We focus on increasing the weapon’s status chance by usingGalvanized Savvyandall 60/60 elemental mods—Toxic Barrage, Shell Shock, Frigid Blast, and Scattering Inferno. Multishot will further improve our status output, so we’ll be usingGalvanized HellandVigilante Armaments. For the elemental mods, create any two combined elements that your melee weapon isn’t using to maximize the effects of Condition Overload. We’re using Corrosive and Blast, but feel free to use any combination you like.

For the last mod slot, we’re usingLock and Load. This will cause your shotgun to passively reload itself while holstered. Using your melee weapon will holster the Rauta, leading to a smooth gameplay loop where you occasionally shoot an enemy before using your melee weapon for massive damage. If you like this weapon and don’t mind adding more Forma, you’re able to add two more polarities (V and –) and place Lock and Load in your Exilus slot, providing enough space for Shotgun Barrage or Primed Point Blank.
