Despite their ferocious and terrifying looks, it is always great to see classic Final Fantasy monsters returning with a modified look. There are obviously many such monsters in the latest game, but this list only contains the most popular beasts among the fans.
10Morbol - A Walking Nightmare
With its wide slimy mouth, razor-sharp teeth, and dozens of boneless limbs, this plant-like monster is straight out of your worst nightmares. Morbol, or Malboro, first appeared as a common enemy in Final Fantasy 2. Since then, it has been a recurring monster in almost all of the games, including Final Fantasy 16.
It is usually several times larger than your character model and harder to deal with as it uses many AoE attacks like “Bad Breath”, which can inflict numerous status effects on you.
9Goblin - A Shrewd Menace
Goblin is a common and one of the weakest enemies in early Final Fantasy games. The series has different sub-types of goblins, and over the period, its character design has gone through major changes.
The earliest of its depiction shows a small humanoid monster wearing decent clothes, a long hat, and pointy shoes. The monster also has horns and a pointy nose, wielding a curved blade. But, in Final Fantasy 16, Goblin, or the Gobermouch, is a common enemy wearing a tattered single cloth and battered metal helmet. It has a weak skeletal body, big ears, horns, and claws, and it uses a spiked club as its weapon of choice.
8Minotaurs - Club-Swinging Humanoid Bull
Minotaur is a humanoid bull beast in the Final Fantasy series. In its earliest design, the monster does not wear any armor and uses a regular giant ax to pummel its enemies. However, in later designs, its horn grew longer and longer. It started donning metal armor and wielding a spiked mace.

In Final Fantasy 16, the Minotaur goes by the name ofSekhret, and it is comparatively much bulkier than its earlier representations. The common attacks of this beast involve swinging its giant club and charging its enemies, which can be easily avoided.
7Gigas - Worst Character Design Evolution
Gigas are portrayed as giant muscular humanoid beasts with different elemental abilities in early Final Fantasy games. These creatures usually do not rely on weapons to strike their enemies; instead, they use punches and magic, quite a vicious combo.
However, their latest character design doesn’t do justice to them. In FF16, It is shown as a giant-obese goblin with weak and ugly limbs that barely support its torso. It also wields a massive broken wooden club and uses it for basic swing and smash attacks.
6Admantoise - Massive Scaly Tortoise
Admantoise is one of the classic monsters that has remained more or less the same in character design throughout the Final Fantasy series. It is a giant tortoise with a scaly shell; in FF16, it also has dangerous spikes all over its shell.
It is a weak but annoying-to-deal-with creature because its only weak points are the fleshy head and neck. The rest of its body is protected by an impenetrable shell that deflects all the attacks directed toward it.
5Bomb - Watch Out, It May Explode
The Bombis one of the most unpredictable monsters in the Final Fantasy series. It originally appeared in Final Fantasy 2 as a red/orange coloured spherical beast with two angry eyes, small hands, and flames spurting out of its head. When hit, these creatures may explode, dealing great damage. The more they get hit, the larger the possibility of them exploding.
In Final Fantasy 16, the Bomb has received a design overhaul. It now looks even more frightening, with its entire body covered in realistic flames, capable enough to burn all its enemies to cinders.
4Coeurl - The Chaotic Feline
Coeurlis a feline monster with large whiskers that closely resembles a cheetah or a leopard. This agile beast uses dangerous attack moves like Blaster, which does major damage and can even inflict paralyze status effect. Its havoc-wreaking swift attacks are enough to take downan entire party.

Its latest character design adds long whip-like whiskers and pieces of small scales that act as armor during fights. Compared to its previous lean models, Final Fantasy 16 gives Coeurl a bulky and muscular body.
3Flan - Slimy Man-eating Monster
Flan is a slimy gelatinous monster with large eyes and a wide mouth making up most of its face. In the majority of the instances, Flan also has a large belly and two short arms spurting out of its sides.
This monster design was first seen in Final Fantasy 2. Since then, Flan has remained more or less the same. Its biggest design change can be seen in Final Fantasy 16; it now has four long whip-like arms with a hand at the end of each of them
2Ahriman - Flying One-eyed Creature
TheAhrimanfirst appeared as a boss in Final Fantasy, the Dawn of Souls version. It is a spherical monster with a single large eye at the centre of its body and a wide mouth with sharp teeth. It has two small legs with sharp claws, a reptilian tail, and monstrous bat-like wings.
In Final Fantasy 16, the Ahriman possess two skinny arms as well. The rest of its character design stays the same as the original. Despite its beastly looks, this monster mostly sticks to magical attacks rather than physical ones. So, it’s always a good idea to close the distance when facing him.
1Iron Giant - A Hulking Mechanical Beast
The Iron Giant of Final Fantasy is a literal walking tank with bulky metal armor and a gargantuan sword that looks sharp enough to even slice a dragon’s head clean off. This behemoth first made its appearance as a rare encounter in Final Fantasy 2. However, in Final Fantasy 16, the Iron Giant is part of a mandatory early/mid storyline boss fight.
Its character model also has been significantly redesigned in the latest entry. Now, it has a giant point shield, enhanced breastplate and shoulder guard, and a single glowing light for its eyes instead of two intimidating red ones.
