When it comes to video games, the hero is often at least six feet tall, packing lots of power into their tall frame. However, not all characters fit this stereotype — there are plenty of short kings in gaming who make a name for themselvesandsit firmly within the range of five feet.

Height isn’t everything and these characters prove it fair and square, whether it’s through their bravery, strength, or unforgettable personalities. These short kings may not be the tallest (…they definitely aren’t), but that’s not going to stop them from being kings nonetheless.
7Sora - Kingdom Hearts
InKingdom Hearts 3, Sora’s around 5’2”, but thanks to his happy-go-lucky personality, he’s never had any qualms about being on the shorter side. In fact, his bright and positive attitude gives him a larger presence and instantly draws the attention of anyone near him.
Of course, Sora’s only 15, so there’s a chance he’ll have a growth spurt yet. He’s always been shorter than his best friend Riku, though, so is it likely he’ll grow to be more 5’5”, at the very most? No, not really, and I wouldn’t want him any other way.
6Charizard - Pokemon
When you first see Charizard as a child, you immediately imagine thishuge, hulking dragonthat would loom over you if you had one in real life. The reality, though? Charizardjustscrapes 5’0. I was probably taller than Charizard when I was ten years old.

Regardless, I won’t put a man (dragon?) down for this. Charizard’s still cool as hell, and one of the most belovedPokemonever for good reason. Now that I think about it, Short King would be the perfect nickname to give a Charizard…
5Glenn/Frog - Chrono Trigger
Though he may be a little taller in his human form, Glenn takes the title of short king as a frog. It’s unclearexactlywhat Glenn’s height is when he’s a frog, though most guess him to be between four and five feet tall.
He wieldsthe legendary Masamune easily, but the weight of his past is a little more difficult to handle. Despite the cursed form he was given by Magus, Glenn pushes on and helps Crono and the gang fight the good fight anyway, and that’s what makes him a king.
4Vivi Ornitier - Final Fantasy 9
Find me someone who’s playedFinal Fantasy 9anddoesn’tlove Vivi. This adorable Black Mage is just 3’11” tall — and every inch of that is pure tragedy and lovableness. When you learn of Vivi’s fate, alongside the other Black Mages, it’s a blow you never forget.

I know what happens to Vivi is integral to the game’s story, and the ending wouldn’t have the same impact without his bittersweet speech at the end, but our sweet, short king deserves better, damn it!
3Marshal - Animal Crossing
As a squirrel villager, Marshal is naturally on the shorter side — in fact, he’s about half the size of the character you play as. However, what Marshal lacks in height, he makes up for in absolute charm.
He’s a Smug villager, so he’s brimming with confidence and could easily sweep you off your feet. What’s even better, though, is the grumpy expression he always has on his face and his catchphrase, “sulky.” Is this little squirrel mad? Lift your head up, king; your crown is falling.
2Riki - Xenoblade Chronicles
If you’ve playedXenoblade Chronicles, Riki needs no introduction. If you haven’t, well, go and play it right now so that you may witness the majesty of this short king. Not only is he the Heropon of the Nopon, but he’s also a dedicated family man. Seriously.

After starting a family with this wifeypon, he adopted an orphaned baby Nopon off the street and raised him as his own. He even offers tobe Shulk’s daddypon too. He’s a model father, funny, and, quite literally, the strongest character you can play as. Is there nothing this short king can’t do?
1Link - The Legend Of Zelda
When you think of a short king, Link is the character who immediately comes to mind. InTears of the Kingdom, he’s around 5’2”, and seems to be shorter than Zelda in most cutscenes. His lack of height isn’t for a lack of strength, though — he must have a lot of muscle within that frame to wield some of those huge two-handed weapons.
There are even numerous instances in the game where NPCs comment on Link’s height — the Gerudo love to mention that he can’t possibly be a threat because he’s just too short. Ouch. Still, being small means Link can be much more agile when climbing and fighting enemies — or sneaking into places he shouldn’t be. Link is a short king through and through.
