In the world we live in today, the closest we can get to living in our favorite video games isvirtual reality. It is an incredible technology that is only getting more advanced and cooler, but it costs a pretty penny and not everyone is lucky enough to enjoy it.

That’s where theme park rides come in to save the day! There have been many theme park rides created based on video games over the last few decades. Some of them replaced older versions of non-game related rides and were just rebranded, some live in their own gaming “world” and others are stand-alone rides.

Located at the Futuroscope theme park in France, The Time Machine ride with Raving Rabbids is a hilarious experience. As you take your seat on the moving train, you will notice that you are sitting on a toilet. Yes, a toilet time machine.
The ride takes you through many significant moments in history including the Ice Age, the first Olympics in Greece, the First Luna Landing, the Loch Ness Monster, the sinking of the Titanic, and more. This ride it is entertaining and entirely silly, but won’t satisfy the thrill-seekers.

Located in Thorpe Park in Surrey, England, this bumper car attraction is geared up for some family fun! King Pig’s Wild Hog Dodgems fromAngry Birdsis the perfect attraction for sibling rivals and those who are ready to bump.
Hop into a red car as Red Bird or a green car as a Bad Pigs and battle it out! While this may not be a roller coaster thrill-ride, this will definitely get your competitive gamer heart rate up as you hit, and get hit by some angry foes.
7Final Fantasy XR Ride – Final Fantasy
Located at Universal Studios Japan,Final FantasyXR is the perfect blend of Virtual Reality and actual reality. This roller coaster will take you on drops, turns, twists, and more as you meet up with heroes and warp between the many worlds of Final Fantasy.

You’ll ride in a Mog Ship on this ride and experience some of the game’s most epic battles. This ride seems to be a limited release for special events on an already existing ride at Universal Studios Japan, but we know that Final Fantasy should definitely get its own dedicated ride in the future.
6Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 3Z Arena – Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare
Located at Carowinds in North Carolina, the Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 3Z Arena brings you into the competition through this 4D experience. You can sit in one of the 68 motion-based seats and grab a laser gun to fight off the oncoming hordes.
Choose your side wisely as you’ll either be a plant or a zombie. Get your competitive heart rates going as you turn your finger tapping rage into full-body action to defeat your enemies.
5Mass Effect: New Earth – Mass Effect
Located at California’s Great America in California, Mass Effect: New Earth is the perfect combination of the nostalgia of the Mass Effect series and the thrill of experiencing it “almost” in real life.

This 3D ride simulator is similar to the likes of Star Tours at Disneyland in that it brings you into the world of Mass Effect, is narrated by a real human, and has 4D effects. Visit new planets and save the galaxy in this one-of-a-kind experience.
4Detonator: Bombs Away – Angry Birds
Located in Thorpe Park in Surrey, England, the ride Detonator: Bombs Away is a Mega Drop Tower ride in Angry Birds Land. It held the world record for most G force (5.5) on a free-falling ride.
This ride is ideal for real-life thrill seekers out there who are ready to feel weightlessness and drop at 50 miles per hour. It holds up to 12 riders at a time and is the perfect ride for the black “bomb” bird.
3Yoshi’s Adventure – Super Mario World
Located at Universal Studios Japan as a part of Super Nintendo World, Yoshi’s Adventure is an omnimover attraction that takes you through the Mushroom Kingdom on a quest to find Captain Toad.

Located at Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Los Angeles as a part of Super Nintendo World,Mario KartKoopa’s Challenge is every 90’s kid’s dream. Race through the stunning castle with all of Mario’s friends.
While the ride has augmented reality in 4K, the queue line is almost the most fun experience of the whole attraction. You get to walk through Bowser’s castle and be inside the Mario Universe.
