Before the events ofRedfall, Jacob was a special forces operative turned mercenary who made the mistake of doing a job for Bellwether Security. It was a mistake because he ended up stuck in Redfall when the Vampire Gods took over. In the process, he gained a spectral Raven companion, which now helps him spot and deal with dangers.

His new pet, along with his military training, makes him a formidable character to control. Yet, there are ways to make him even more capable. The main one is choosing a good build for the stealthy sniper. Here are a few decent options.
Long-Range Build
Jacob is known for being the resident sniper among the group of protagonists. So, a buildfocusing on long-range combatsuits the character well.
These are the skills you want to look atto get the most out of the character’s ranged talents:
Allows you to carry more sniper and assault rifle ammo.
Heartstopper ability lasts longer and has more ammo.
You deal more headshot damage against humans.
And You’re To Blame
Enables Heartstopper to hit marked enemies through walls. And the ability’s damage and duration are increased.
TheHeartstopper section of the skill treeis the one you want to focus on the most for this sort of build.
After all, the ability is all about sniping. Also, feel free toput some points into the Raven power, as marking enemies is also useful when sniping.
Close-Range Build
Jacob might be designed for long-distance combat, but thatdoesn’t mean he can’t be effective in close quarters. There are plenty of short-range battles in the game, so it makes sense to have a build for these occasions.
Here are skills to unlockif you want Jacob to be deadly when enemies get up close and personal:
Provides extra storage for shotgun and handgun ammo.
Marked enemies take more damage.
None of Jacob’s abilities are specifically designed for close range.
However,Cloak can be used to get in close, while theRaven is usefulregardless of how far away you are. Thus, you cansink some skill points into those sections along with getting the skills mentioned above.

Stealth Build
You may be tempted totry a stealthy approach with Jacobconsidering he is best suited to that sort of playstyle. The following buildputs complete focus on sneaking aroundwhile occasionally taking out an enemy or two.
Bird’s Eye
Increases the radius of the Raven’s scan.
Of course, if you’re going for a stealth build, you want toput plenty of focus on the Cloakpart of the skill tree since the ability literally turns you invisible.
Yet,don’t discount the usefulness of the Raven’s abilityto mark enemies. It’s much easier to sneak past people when you know where they are.
Defense Build
If you’re struggling to cope with all the vampires and humans you’re facing off against, you may want some help. That assistance can come from a build thatprioritizes keeping Jacob alive.
Thefollowing skills are the ones you should getfor that type of build:
What It Does
Quick Recovery 2
Boosts the amount of health you regenerate when your HP is low.
Cloak now grants you and your allies some damage resistance.
Air Supercavitation
Allows you to pass through tripwires undetected while cloaked.
Cloak is the best of the three skills to focus onif you’re trying to build up your defense.
After all, turning invisible cangive you a better chance of escaping trouble.
