This makes him perfect for voice acting, in which he has had a litany of success. While he’s most known for voicing a certainMetal Gear Solidcharacter, he’s lent his tones to plenty of others over the years for different projects. The following ones are the most notable examples.
8The Bartender - Yakuza: Like A Dragon
English dubs aren’t the norm forYakuzagames, but there is one in Like A Dragon, and it has David Hayter on the cast. He plays a helpful bartender whose establishment serves as a hangout spot for the main characters. He serves them drinks, gives them advice, and generally acts as a useful ally to the protagonists.
Yet, the character has more importance in the overall series than it initally seems, as he’s an significant figure in the earlier games. However, in those titles, he’s called Kashiwagi.
7Lieutenant Renn - Dragon Age Inquisition (Descent DLC)
Dragon Age is a series filled with wonderful characters, and another one got added to the mix in Inquisition’s Descent DLC. That man is a dwarf named Lieutenant Renn and voiced by David Hayter.
When you meet him, he is an officer of the Legion Of The Dead and a well-respected one at that. This is mainly because he fought in the Fifth Blight, which was a war involving dangerous Darkspawn creatures. He’s a humble fellow, though, so he doesn’t care too much about his iconic status. All he cares about is completing the job at hand, which involves more Darkspawn.
6Jeremiah - The Long Dark
Things don’t go great for David Hayter’s character Jeremiah inThe Long Dark. When you first meet him, he is getting mauled by a bear. You must save him and then nurse him back to health.

5Jedi Knight - Star Wars: The Old Republic

The exact personality of the character is down to you, as you can lean either to the light or dark side of the force. David Hayter’s vocal performance suits a noble Jedi better. Whatever side of the force you’re on, though, you get toexperience a great story, which is enhanced by the Jedi protagonist.
4King Shark - The Flash
David Hayter’s voice work isn’t just contained to the video game world. This man’s tones can also be heared in the live-action Flash series. Hayter isn’t seen in live-action as he plays a fully CGI character. That character is famed DC supervillain, King Shark.
To put it simply, he is a large humanoid shark that is at odds with the titular hero. This is unfortunte for the Flash since the beast is a relentless hunter. He’s also fairly scary since he speaks in a very growly and monsterous voice that is tonally very deep, even for Hayter.
3Lupin The 3rd - The Castle Of Cagliostro
The 2000 redub of The Castle Of Cagliostro movie sees David Hayter take over the role of the main character, Lupin The 3rd. This guy is a charming thief who loves money but is also pretty noble.

He’s a different sort of character from the ones Hayter usually voices. After all, he’s not a grizzled veteran or a grumpy old man. He is more of a youthful goofball, meaning the actor gives a slightly different performance in the movie. His voice sounds a bit lighter, and his tone is more upbeat.
2Naked Snake - Metal Gear Solid Series
Metal Gear Solid will likely always be the series David Hayter is most associated with. And his performances have been vital to the success of the series. As such, he still features in Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker despite the original character he voiced not being in either of them.
He, instead, takes up the role of Solid Snake’s sort of father, Naked Snake, aka Big Boss. He is alegendary and very talented soldierthat is capable of overcoming every obstacle. Yet, he doesn’t bask in his glories or even really enjoy them. He’s generally pessimistic about the world and himself. This is what makes him a compelling character.
1Solid Snake - Metal Gear Solid Series
Solid Snake is certainly the character that put David Hayter on the map. He voices the soldier in Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and all spin-offs and cameos. Snake is an iconic warrior that uses stealth tactics and fancy gadgets to save the world on multiple occasions.
In-universe, he’s regarded as a legendary hero, but he’s a humble man who doesn’t accept the praise given to him. He primarily sees himself as a soldier doing a job. He also has a brighter side, though, as he constantly makes jokes and flirts with pretty much any woman he meets. Hayter plays both the serious and lighter sides of the character perfectly.
