Uncle Ben taught us that with great power comes great responsibility. And then he got himself shot by trying to reason with a guy with a gun instead of just running away. Similarly, Link is bestowed with some fascinating powers inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. He cancreate thingsand manipulate his surroundings, but often lacks the responsibility while doing so.
The sheer freedom the game presents players with allows for game-breaking instances in the hands of skilled players. But the problem with this is that not everyone is a skilled player. Quite often, players such as myself think we’ve figured out something ingenious, only to be wounded or killed by our own hubris. The internet is full of clips of such instances.

We’ll start with something simple – falllingleavess on Twitter probably thought they were really smart when they fused an exploding barrel and a boomerang. You can’t blame them, it sounds foolproof – until you realise that boomerangs tend to come back if they don’t hit the intended target. Unfortunately they found this out the hard way.
The Zonai wings take a while to figure out. But once you do, you’re able to cover a lot of ground very easily. Unfortunately, they tend to despawn after some time. Thankfully you have a paraglider to ensure you land safely. However, while the wing itself despawns, any Zonai tech you stuck to it does not. And so, banditVEVO was hit by falling Zonai tech, disrupting their paraglider-assisted descent.
This next one doesn’t have anything to do with Link’s powers, but will be relatable to another Nintendo character, Yoshi. As mechafriend rode towards a cliff, they jumped off their horse for whatever reason. However, unlike in Mario games, their horse kept galloping and unfortunately took a tumble. While that was sad, watching the motionless horse slide off a second cliff and fall again made many of us chuckle when we shouldn’t have.
The next few are all public service announcements when it comes to adventuring in Hyrule. The first one, courtesy ofjack_luddytells us to look out for falling chunks of sky island while flying. The chances of them hitting you are low, but still possible.
The other two remind us to ensure that objects are placed and fastened properly before we use them.SinscoShopTodaywarns us to verify that both sides of a plank are on the ground before using it as a bridge; andSMlTTENMITTENStells us to make sure we attach hooks properly to the rails, lest we lose a Korok. Those poor little things aretortured enough as it is.
