Protagonists in almost every form of media tend to be luckier than most. After all, there are only so many times an enemy can miss a shot, or just a few timesplot armourcan work well while making sure the character’s story doesn’t end early. In video games, this is more prevalent than ever, with some characters having gone through some of the most treacherous situations and yet still come out breathing.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that we don’t still love these characters and their stories. But it is fun to just observe how fortunate they can be considering the circumstances. Of course, some are luckier than others, so these are the luckiest video game characters.
8Clementine (The Walking Dead)
By the time the apocalypse came around inThe Walking Dead, Clementine already had several disadvantages when it came to the harsh world. She had no parents, no resources and was only a child compared to the adults that fill most of the main cast.
Yet somehow she has survived numerous shootouts, herds of zombies, a car crash, explosions, imprisonment and more. Although she’s got the skills for surviving so long, to survive all of that means she got real lucky at times.
7Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
If luck was a skill then Lara Croft would be a master at it. Although the tomb-raiding heroine is no laughing matter when it comes to herathleticism and historical knowledge, there are just some things that Lara does that are beyond human ability.

She can take down dinosaurs, survive collapsing tombs, dodge countless bullets and make it through a lot of her adventures with barely a scratch. Besides, if she did get scratched or worse, she’s lucky enough that it’d be non-fatal anyways.
6B.J. Blazkowicz (Wolfenstein)
So there’s surviving an apocalypse or dangerous adventures, but then there’s dealing with the world ofWolfenstein. From being a prisoner of war, BJ Blazkowics has managed to kill Nazis and take down Castle Wolfenstein like a one-man army. However, his luck really goes ridiculously in the recent games since Wolfenstein: The New Order.
In this continuity, the Nazis unfortunately won and took over the world, BJ Blazkowics takes part in a rebellion to dismantle the Nazi regime, now no longer slaying through a castle of enemies but an entire world of them. Yet despite this, he manages to live through every explosion and army that comes his way.
5Chloe Price (Life Is Strange)
This is one of those odd cases where a character is either very lucky or very unlucky. Chloe Price fromLife is Strangeoften falls into both categories but in this case, we have to talk about how extremely fortunate she can be. Despite the universe trying to kill her over and over again throughout the course of the game, Chloe is lucky enough to almost always have Max there to save her.
In one possible ending, Max can defy the universe, which sends a storm to kill Chloe, and still save her. Although Chloe is unlucky to be put in these situations, she can be rreally lucky in still defying the universe again and again thanks to her friend.
4Kiryu Kazuma (Yakuza)
It’s odd that in a world where there are clearly no such things as superpowers, Kiryu from theYakuzaseries can take down hundreds of men, endure some of the most diabolical series of injuries, and still always get a (mostly) happy ending each time.

This is even more hilarious when you take into account that Kiryu stars in multiple Yakuza games, including the prequel Yakuza 0, which seems to show that, yes, Kiryu’s life is just like that from the very beginning. No matter how many men attempt to beat him up, shoot him, or blow him up on that tower at the end of a convoluted plot to take over the city, Kiryu will always somehow make it out there.
3Cole Phelps (L.A. Noire)
This may seem strange, but Cole Phelps fromL.A. Noiresure does seem to solve almost every single case he comes across, doesn’t he? Evidence is always seemingly scattered in perfect places for him to dramatically pick up and examine.
As if that wasn’t enough, he also gets into way more many shootouts than any cop, let alone a detective should. Yet despite how his story ends, this was one incredibly lucky career.
2The Dragonborn (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)
The Dragonborn fromThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimis the luckiest person to be alive during their time. From the fact that they were moments away from being executed before a dragon rears its head for the first time in centuries, inadvertently saving their life, to the fact they have been chosen as the first Dragonborn in centuries to fight dragons.
Beyond that, they have the ability to almost single-handedly end the civil war, become the leader of numerous factions, and defeat great evils including another Dragonborn. As powerful as they may be, they were lucky to be the one chosen to be Dragonborn in the first place.
1Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
Nathan Drake of theUnchartedseries is so lucky that we’re pretty sure he wouldn’t even argue with you about it. But there are a lot of things peopledon’t know about himor his luck. In fact, did you know that he is so luck-centric that even his health system is luck based? It’s said that instead of his health deteriorating health when wounded, it’s actually his luck running out. When it gets to zero, it’s because an enemy was fortunate enough to get a lucky shot and kill him.
Whether it’s almost everything he touches inexplicably collapsing on him or even surviving a train crash on the edge of a mountain after a gut shot, Nathan is just always really lucky to make it out.
