Final Fantasy 16is home to many strong warriors. As the Dominants, these characters possess the Eikon powers within. They can use a form known as “semi-prime,” which grants them small armor in theme with theirEikonelement, or they can fully prime, transforming into the Eikon themselves.

While most of their power stems from the magic attacks that their Eikon has blessed them with, some of these characters have an edge over their others due to their extensive combat training or even simple physical strength. Battle experience is always a plus, but it is not necessary when speaking about magical beings that have the power to wipe out entire nations.
This article contains spoilers for Final Fantasy 16.
8Hugo Kupka
Although you do not have the chance to exchange blows with Hugo Kupka until later on in the game, he is the weakest of the Dominants. He is probably the strongest in a physical sense (he would demolish Joshua in arm wrestling), but without any real military experience besides running around in an open field, and chucking rocks at what, to him, are but mere ants, his combat skills are lacking.
His primary role is that of Economic Advisor not of General, therefore his strength lies in his political power, not his combat prowess.
7Benedikta Harman
Unlike her lover, Hugo Kupka, Benedikta Harman has military experience. Throughout the story, she is seen with a small squad that she directly commands, but that’s not to say that she cannot get her hands dirty. She does so quite often, constantly slaughtering her victims and even her own officers when their incompetence gets in the way of her mission.

Not only is she the Dominant of Garuda, piloting terrifying wind power that could level any castle keep, but Hugo’s fascination with her put her at an advantage.
6Jill Warrick
It may not seem that Jill is as strong or even stronger than some of the war-seasoned characters in the story, but as Shiva’s Dominant, Jill Warrick is as powerful as can be. At the beginning of the game, you are treated by an epic cinematic of Shiva and Titan duking it out on the battlefield.
Jill, later on, joins your party and becomes one of your main companions, alongside Torgal, and can keep up with all of Clive’s difficult enemies.
5Cidolfus Telamon
Besides experience from years of fighting the good fight, Cid was previously a soldier for the Kingdom of Waloed, where he met the tactician Benedikta Harman. Ever since he became an outlaw, Cid has been fighting many foes throughout the years, and with a good grasp of his Eikonic power, he’s been able to push his agenda further.
Final Fantasy 16’sThunder God is feared amongst the other Dominants due to his power, and even though it has been at the expense of his life force, Cid continues to fight.
4Joshua Rosfield
Joshua might not be properly trained in the art of combat, but once he joins Clive on his journey, thePhoenixDominant can keep up the pace. Joshua’s Phoenix powers are so strong that he can go toe to toe against Ultima and even seal him to protect Clive.

While his blade skills are nothing to write home about, unlike Clive’s, the fact that Phoenix can match the mighty Bahamut’s strength is worth noting.
3Dion Lesage
The leader of the Holy KnightsDragoonwas not given his rank due to his bloodline; the Crown Prince to the Holy Empire of Sanbreque can stand up to any foe in his path as the Eikon Bahamut. Most fans would agree that Bahamut is one of the strongest Eikons in the series, so it’s only natural that his Final Fantasy 16 host is just as powerful.
Bahamut’s Megaflare can level entire cities, as we see during the fight in the Crystalline Dominion, but even when Dion is not primed, he can easily demolish Akashic soldiers without breaking a sweat. Donald Duck has finally foundhis match.
2Barnabas Tharmr
Everyone fears King Barnabas of Waloed, and no one dares encroach on his territory. For that reason, most of the continent of Ash is mostly unexplored by citizens of Storm. The Dominant rules with an iron fist, and his opponents know that when Oden rides, the battle has been lost.
Wielding the mighty Zantetsuken, King Barnabas can slice the ocean in one stroke. The only thing that can stop him is the Shield of Rosaria himself, Clive Rosfield, and his twisted devotion to his god, Ultima.
1Clive Rosfield
As the second Dominant of Fire, Clive Rosfield and his Eikon, Ifrit, can absorb Eikonic blessings from other Dominants, granting him access to every power. While this gift might seem overpowered for a simple outlaw, Clive can back up his strength with years of training under the Lord Commander of the Rosarian Army, the late Rodney Murdoch.
A one-man-party, Clive can combo his enemies with swordplay and magic, all whilst healing himself using the Phoenix’s blessing he received from Joshua as the First Shield of Rosaria.
