How To Start A Portrait Of The Witcher As An Old Man
The painter at the heart of this quest is set up in the marketplacesouth of The Gran’palace Fast Travel point.He’s hard to miss, given that he’ll comment on Geralt’s hair as soon as he sees the witcher.
You can only start this quest if you have completedThe Warble of a Smitten Knightor havecompleted the Blood and Wine storyline.The painter will bring Geralt to a location crucial to the former quest and is therefore unable to proceed until the quest is concluded.
Impressed with Geralt’s bemused expression and monster slayer’s physique, he asks the witcher to act asa model for a piece he intends to paint.Agree to his request to start the quest andmeet the painter at the Beauclair Palace Fast Travel point at noon.
From there, he will bring Geralt to the hills around the city, which he aims to use as a backdrop. The first of many setbacks begins at his chosen spot, which has recently been infested by a pack of Beauclair’s blue-blooded pests. Worse, his paints have gone missing.
Where To Find The Paint
The painter will ask Geralt, with great embarrassment, to help him find his paint. You will have touse Geralt’s Witcher Sensesto find alarge smudge in the west of the search area, by a large shrub.It carries the heavy stink of turpentine, enough for Geralt to track the paint.
The scent will bring Geralt to aset of footprintsthat leads further into a cavefilled with Nekkers.The ogroids have put the painter’s pigments to use, slathering themselves with it and adorning the cave walls with modern art.
After slaughtering the amateur painters,pick up the remaining paintin the cave andreturn to the painter.He had been unable to dislodge the nobles but had identified an alternative site to work from. He’ll lead Geralt there.
Getting Painted
After all the riding, fighting, and walking, he will finally start with the painting. He will ask Geralt to choose betweenone of three poses,and will get to work. If you are curious, we havethree basic paintings below.
Halfway through the process, he considersadding a griffin to the painting.Fortunately, inspiration attempts to dive-bomb the pair witha griffin suddenly attacking.
The griffin is your run-of-the-mill variety, if you may describe it as such. It may not have any special attacks, but it is stilla dangerous foe.Remember that yourcrossbow can knock it out of the sky, as can a well-timed Aard.
verify to loot the griffin after slaying it. It is likely tocontain a steel swordwhich you may sell for a tidy profit.
With the griffin dead, the painter will ask if youwant the griffin included in the workbeforepaying 300 crownsand leaving to complete the work in his studio. He promises to have the work completed in a day’s time.
Seeing The Finished Work
Return to the market squarein a day’s time. You will finda small crowd around the painter’s spot,ogling the finished piece. Suffice it to say, there were someartistic libertiestaken during the process.
The painter returns, proud of his creation. Geralt does not share the enthusiasm but will be able topurchase the work for 1,000 crowns.You can hang it up in Corvo Bianco, if you want to impress your guests. Or you could discard it out of spite.
Don’t worry if youcan’t afford it at the moment.You can always return to the painter tobuy it at a later date.
