As you explore the world and have the Pikmin help you, remember some crucial tips to make it easier. Doing so will help you maximize your days, avoid losing Pikmin, and collect everything to get the good ending while enjoying the game.

Get At Least One Part A Day

After you finish the first day in Pikmin, you start to play witha time limit. You have only a certain amount of time to explore and collect ship parts daily, and you mustfinish the game in under 30 days.

That means if you collect at least one part daily, you’ll complete the game, though you shouldaim for a buffer. Try to collect multiple parts in a day, so you can focus on exploring, building your Pikmin army, and breaking terrain to make the following days easier.

It never hurts to prepare for upcoming days, even if you can’t collect parts yet. For instance, in the Forest of Hope, you’ll find a bridge you can build just outside your base. You must have your Pikmin build the bridge on both sides, but you don’t yet have Pikmin that can swim, preventing you from working on the second half.

Despite that, you’re able to still build the bridge to get the part once you find the right Pikmin.Even if a day starts to end, look for these minor optimizations and stay busy the whole timeto make the following days easier.

Becoming optimal matters since some days may require you to prepare and make a path to different bosses. Ensure you have that buffer andrestart a day if you didn’t progressor didn’t get a part, so you won’t get the bad ending.

Unlock The Blue And Yellow Pikmin Immediately

Red, blue, and yellow make up all the Pikmin types in this game. If you plan to beat the game, you mustunlock the blue and yellow Pikminas quickly as possible.

You’ll encounter theyellow Pikmin first in the Garden of Hope. You must break the wall near the ship, then go right and defeat the Large Bulborb there. You’ll then destroy the wall behind it and soon encounter the yellow Pikmin.

You’ll then run into theblue Pikmin in the Forest Navel. At this point, you should have the map unlocked, so you may use it to go to the blue spot on the screen.

If you have trouble finding it, it’s on the east side of the map, and you’re able to walk there without Pikmin.

Pay Attention To Color Coding

The game does a great job of color coding, soyou get different benefits for Pikmin associated with colors, making it important to pay attention to them.

Red Pikmin are immune to fire damage, so you should have them rush in and fight fire enemies. For instance, when you encounter the fire enemies in the Forest Navel, you should only fight them with red Pikmin to avoid losing any of them.

As for yellow Pikmin, they canpick up the yellow bombs and throw them. These allow you to not only destroy stone walls but deal significant damage to enemies. They also go higher when you throw them, allowing you to reach parts other Pikmin can’t.

Blue Pikmin can swim in the water, reaching parts other Pikmin can’t get. They’re also the best options for fighting water enemies or creatures near water, so you don’t accidentally drown any of your Pikmin.

The same applies to the bottle caps you’ll encounter while playing. The bottle caps are color-coded, so have the corresponding Pikmin take them to their Onions. Doing so will give you more Pikmin than if you have them take random colors to their Onions.

If you have multiple Pikmin colors carrying an enemy or bottle cap,the Pikmin will carry it to the Onion with the most taking it. For example, if you have two red Pikmin and one yellow Pikmin carrying an enemy, they’ll go to the red Onion.

Collect Mostly Red Pikmin

Even though you have three types, you shouldprioritize making red Pikmin over blue and yellow. Red Pikmin deal more damage than the others, so they’ll handle most of the work and fighting. If you use them the most, they’re also at the highest risk of dying, so build a reserve.

While red Pikmin matter the most, you should get blue and yellow Pikmin as you see fit. As a general rule, you shouldhave at least 100 of each Pikmin, so you can pull a full party of each one when you need them.

Once you have 100 of each, you shoulddouble the red Pikminas you keep building your army. Always make it a goal to check the end of the day and have more Pikmin of each type than you lost.

Don’t be afraid to reset the game if you make a massive mistakeand lose too many Pikmin. Otherwise, you could place yourself in an unwinnable situation and may need to restart the game or spend time farming Pikmin.

Understand How To Save Pikmin Before Nightfall

When the sun sets, you lose any Pikmin you don’t have in safe locationssince the monsters become active at night. To save your Pikmin, you can use a few techniques to prevent them from dying.

First, you’ll save any Pikmin in your partywhen the day ends. As long as you whistle at them and the number at the bottom indicates they’re following you, you won’t leave them behind.

You alsowon’t lose any Pikmin near the Onions and your ship. Leave them in the area as you collect the others, and they’ll automatically climb in.

The same applies to Pikmin planted in the ground. Enemies can’t kill them if they can’t pull them out, so the Pikmin will stay there until the next day, when you’re able to pull them out and add them to your numbers.

If you want to play it safe, pay attention to the time meter at the top of the screen. When it reaches the second to last circle, stop doing what you were working on and focus on finding all the Pikmin to save them.

If you go past your base, separate the Pikmin and leave them there. They have a chance to trip as you travelwith them, so they could fall out of your party and not survive the night.

Get As Many Flowers As Possible

Pikmin start with leaves on their heads. They can get a bud, the second level, and a flower at the highest level. With each level,Pikmin deal more damage and move faster, making them more efficient.

You have two ways to turn them into flowers. If youleave them in the ground after they sprout, they’ll go through those two stages, giving you stronger Pikmin once you pluck them from the ground.

You’ll alsoencounter nectar drops while you explore the world. Some will come from items, others from plants, and some from enemies. When you approach them, push as many leaf Pikmin into them as possible to upgrade them to flowers.

The nectar may appear as a single droplet, but you must be careful since a single Pikmin can drink it all. That’s why you should use the charge command to rush all your Pikmin to it and spread the nectar between them, so you’ll get the upgrades.

Flower Pikmin won’t drink the nectar, so don’t worry about your high-level Pikmin taking it.
