The Outlast Trialsare hard enough with a full team of friends by your side. Players find it next to impossible to survive while playing solo. Instead of 4v4, it will be just you against a ton of enemies. Completing trials while playing solo is possible if you keep a few key points in mind.

The game isn’t forgiving. After the very first trial, you have to start learning the AI and how to complete objectives efficiently if you want to have a chance at Program X and becoming Reborn. This guide will detail everything you need to know to survive solo.

Take It Slow

Rushing will ultimately get you killed. Even while in a chase, there is no reason to use up your stamina and panic. Without upgraded stamina, you will need toconserve your stamina by only running in short burstswhen necessary. Instead of trying to outrun an enemy, use the map to your advantage. Close doors behind you and hide in the dark to lose chase.

The more you run around, whether it’s to escape chase or complete objectives fast, the more likely you are to accidentally trigger a Screamer or sound trap.

Taking it slow will keep you safer in a trial. Of course, this doesn’t mean taking two hours to complete a trial sincethe longer you are in a trial, the more enemies spawn. It simply means you should pay attention to your surroundings and only act when necessary.

Utilize Throwables

Throwables can go a long way if you play your cards right.Yes, you can throw bricks or bottles at enemies to temporarilystun them, but there is more use to them. If there is a Screamer beside an objective, like a generator, you can’t really complete the objective without triggering it. To fix this, you can throw a brick or bottle at the Screamerfrom afar, and it will run away to a different location.

You can also unlock the ability to get Pouncers off you quickly. Usually, when a Pouncer attacks you, you must mash your interact button until you can’t. This takes a long time. With thepharmacist prescription Self Defense Technique, you can instantly get Pouncers off of you so that you can continue whatever you are doing.

Get The Stun or Heal Rig

Rigs are important for end-game trials. Four can be unlocked, but only two are the most useful.Rigs will save you from getting downed or losing your health. They will allow you to escape from a chase, giving you better odds.

You can purchase your first Rig at Level 2.Each time you level up, you earn a green Voucher which can be used to unlock special abilities with either the engineer or the pharmacist.

The Stun Rig will temporarily stop pursuers by emitting an electric shock. They will stop in their tracks, allowing you to escape or hide. Further Stunupgrades will allow the electric shock to charge up your night vision goggles. The Stun Rig is great for escaping tough enemies.

The Heal Rig will, of course, heal you. The best part about this Rig is thatwhen upgraded, it will also slow down enemies and cure psychosis. Healing, enemy slow, and curing all at once are huge game changers.

An upgraded Heal Rig allows you to survive longer due to the healing and antidote effects. This is especially important during end-game trials where healing potions are limited. The mist that the Heal Rig leaves behind will slow down enemies a bit, which is very helpful for escaping a chase and saving you time.

Upgrade Your Stamina

The stamina you have at the beginning of the game is pretty crappy. Every single player, when able, should start upgrading their stamina. You will get to a point where there is no way an enemy can catch up to you.

To upgrade your stamina, you must unlock the pharmacist. The pharmacist is a lady in the Sleep Room who you cannot speak tounless you are Level 3. Once you are Level 3, you’re able to only access Tier I prescriptions. The only way to access stamina upgrades is by unlocking Tier II prescriptions.

Keep In The Dark

Enemies can’t see you in the dark. It’s the perfect place to lose chase. If someone sees you, run into a dark room and crouch somewhere. They will wander around, wondering where you are. After a while, the enemy should leave.

The only enemy that can see you in the dark isthe Night Watcher. This is an enemy with night vision goggles, just like you.

When you play with friends, it’s easy to lose chase by leading an enemy to one of your friends. By yourself, all enemies are hunting for you and you alone. Keeping to the dark and not making noise unless necessary will keep you from danger.

Bring Enemies Far From Objective

One of the easier parts about playing with others is that the enemies can chase someone else around while you focus on getting the objective done, such as electrocuting the snitch in Program 1. As a solo player, you will need to be more meticulous.

When the objective calls for standing in one place, it’s hard not to have ten enemies after you. You will have to lure enemies far away and lose chase, then return to the objective. This might be tedious, but it is the only way.

Run far from the objective while the enemy is chasing you. Once you are far enough away, make sure to close multiple doors between you and the enemyand then return. Running around the objective or stunning multiple times won’t help since that is very temporary. When you lose chase far away, it takes the enemy longer to come back.
