Shovel Locations
If you are looking for a shovel, chances are you have founda strange pile of dirt that needs digging.
Mostly, you cannot find a shovel in a specific, singular place. The location of such ordinary objects is alwaysrandomized each playthroughif they are meant to be inside containers.
However,In Act 1, there is one sure location where you will always find a shovel.
In the Blighted Village, there isa sleeping Bugbearbehind one of the dilapidated houses, to the North. There is ahole in the groundnear him, wheretwo shovels will lie, like in the photo above. This location will alwaysremain the same for each playthrough.
Aside from that location, you will be able to eventuallyfind a shovel by checking regular containers. For instance, the Blighted Village is full ofCratesand containers. Most of it is junk, but that is good because you may chance upon a shovel.
You will havemore luck finding a shovel in an abandoned, once-lived in area.
How To Dig Up Treasure
There are hidden chestsall throughout Baldur’s Gate 3. You only find out about them if youwalk near a randomized area andpass a Perception check.
These hidden chests can be just about anywhere, so if the specific arealooks like space for a dirt mound, you should at least walk by it and see if youget a Perception check.
Bypassing a Perceptioncheck, adirt mound will show, like in the photo above. If you have a shovel equipped, all you have to do isinteract with the dirt moundand your character will dig up a chest.
These chests can contain just aboutanything from Gold, rare special boots or gloves, and something of high value for selling purposes.
You do not need one shovel per character.
If a shovel is in your custom characters inventory, but you make Astarion dig, he will automatically take the shovel.
