Simple as your task may seem, it’s only that way on paper. Not only will you have to tame these wild and wacky mounts, but you’ll have to fight them all the way back to the stables. Unfortunately, some mounts will be more of a handful than others, so make sure you bring your stirrups and your patience because you’re sure to need both.

Don’t worry about getting off to speak with Toffa. As soon as you get close enough to him, he’ll instigate dialogueand react to your skelly-steed.

How To Tame A Wild Animal

In the Dalite Forest, halfway between Outskirt Stable and the Sanidin Ruins where you found the Stalhorse, you can find a number of other passable mounts.

Themost likely mounts you’re able to find here are Deer and Boar.Bears can also sometimes, but rarely, be found.

Link Returns To Toffa With A Deer And Gets Silver Rupee

It is most recommended tofocus your attention on finding a deer.Doe will be easier to catch than bucks, but either are still easier than boar.

To find a deer, you need onlywalk around while crouching until you spy one. They are randomly generated in the forest, so you might need to walk around a bit before you see one.Don’t run;if you run into their range of hearing or sight, they’ll immediately dart away.

Much like with horses, you’ll need tosneak up on one from behind. However, deer are far more perceptive than horses,so you’llneed to be extra cautious.Using afull set of stealthy armor is highly recommended.

Once you’vejumped on and tamed a deer, you may now begin the hard part:returning to Outskirt Stable.

Unfortunately, deer are not the best at following directions, and you’ll need tofight with them constantlyon the way back. Soothing does not appear to be very helpful here, and any sudden movements are generally answered by the deer sharply turning in the opposite direction.

Do the best you can with keeping them on the path, butbeware of the bridgebetween the forest and the stables. It’s very easy to misstep here and go careening into the water, so it’s recommended totake this bridge at a walk.Running will increase the chances of the deer sending both of you on an unplanned float-trip in the River of the Dead.

Do not get off your mount at any time. Wild animals will immediately bolt as soon as you step off them.

Getting off before you return to Outskirt Stable and speak with Toffa will result in youneeding to restart this part of the quest.

Return to Outskirt Stableandapproach Toffaagain. He’ll be astounded by your mount and reward you very handsomely for your efforts with a shinySilver Rupee.

Unfortunately, you cannot keep the Stalhorse or the wild animalyou caught in the woods, but you can keep the Rupees and any silly memories you made along the way.
