Early intoMaster Detective Archives: Rain Code’s first chapter, Yuma Kokohead bumps into an unavoidable object called a Memory Shard. This statue, shaped like Shinigami herself, is but one of many strewn throughout Kanai Ward. The first’s a freebie; the rest are up to you to find. Doing so unlocks some spiffy cutscenes, too, so it’s worth your while.

We’re covering all five types of Memory Shard - Copper, Amethyst, Gold, Silver, Emerald - and this guide’s all about those Coppers. They’re linked to Yakou Furio, head of the Nocturnal Detective Agency. Here’s where to find all Copper Memory Shards. Just be sure to check them out in the Gumshoe Gab section of Rain Code’s menu when you do!
Memory Shard #1 - First Step
This first Copper Memory Shard is quite simply impossible to miss. Our boss, Yakou, gets the honor of having his earliest Copper Memory Shard serve as a tutorial;just follow the story until you gain control of Yuma at the start of Chapter 1, and Shinigami will point out the shiny object dead ahead.
You can’t get past the thing without picking it up, and it’s not like there’s any reason to bemoan the fact. Fetch it, watch the scene, and carry forth!
Memory Shard #2 - The Iron Coffin Bed
The second and third Copper Memory Shards can be snagged at any point between Chapters 1 and 4. If you’re reading this guide in Chapter 1, there’s no sense waiting around - the earlier you get them, the sooner you can enjoy them, not to mention those sweet Detective Points bonuses.
You’ll find the second Copper Memory Shardat Kanai Station, inside one of the red carts lined up near Gates B and C.
Memory Shard #3 - Storage In The Underground World
Like the previous Copper Memory Shard, this one can be acquired between the first and fourth chapters. If you’re coming here as soon as Yakou sends you to the hotel to get the other Master Detectives, look forthe underground passageway right near the hotel. (Technically, you should do the same regardless of whether you’ve gotten the hotel scenes yet.)
This portion of the underground tunnels isinaccessible from the portion of tunnels nearer to the River Bank.A construction worker will ask you to go around, even though the Memory Shard is woefully close.
Memory Shard #4 - Find The Secret Of The Toys
You’ll only be able to access the fourth Copper Memory Shard while at theSecret Labin Chapter 4, so don’t miss it! Thankfully, it’s not exactly well hidden. After speaking with the scientist here who tells you he needs time to think, you’ll be able to wander around this room for a bit.
Ignore Desuhio’s flirtatious tomfoolery as you hike on over tothe big table left of the scientist. This Memory Shard is right on top of that table.
Memory Shard #5 - Princess Kaguya In The Bamboo Grove
There’s a slew of last Memory Shards of practically every color during the creepy traipse through theRestricted Areain Chapter 5. The final Copper isoff the path slightly to the left of the bathhouse. When you get here, a quick scene plays out in which Kurumi catches up with Yuma. The camera pans over the bathhouse, but you’ll note a telltale blue orb just to Yuma’s left.
verify you get itbefore entering the bathhouse, and you’ll be all set with every Yakou Furio conversation for Detective Gab!
