You get to meet one in the quest Free Spirit, a man searching for a loophole that would let him marry the woman he loves.

Such battles are not won through strength of arms and are instead fought with wits and knowledge. This means you’ll have to become a traveling library for this man if you choose to help.

Where To Start Free Spirit

This isn’t an easy quest to find. It’s on aremote island north of Ard Skellig,far from any Fast Travel point. The quickest way to reach it would be totake a boat from Kaer Trolde Harboror fromAncient Crypt,depending on your story progress.

The victim, Ivar, explains that his assailant had beenhis love’s brother,who is furious that Ivar is attempting to marry a Priestess of Freya. Not to be deterred, Ivar intends to hit the book andsearch for a loophole that would allow their marriage.

You’ll have tofind five booksto satisfy his lust for knowledge. They’re scattered around the world and may have beenalready looted during your adventures.If you’re missing any, you can buy them from specific vendors.

You’ll find this book in Novigrad’swealthier Gildorf District,at amerchant selling bizarre items.It’ssouth of St. Gregory’s Bridge.

This merchant stocks ahandful of quest-starting items,including alizard figurine used in Of Dairy and Darkness,andold wine from Toussaint,which you may need forIt Takes Three To Tango.

The Cult of Freya

Apreacher selling alchemy-related itemsstocks this book. He’s foundin the north of Novigrad,atElectors' Square.

Tristianna and Isador

While not as intellectually stimulating as some of the other books, this story of forbidden love may help Ivar. You can find itfrom the merchant in Lindenvale.

Religion and Life

Thetrader at Crow’s Perchstocks this book, which may be particularly helpful for Ivar.

Once you’ve given Ivar all four books, he’llthank Geralt for his helpbefore departing. The quest ends here.
