Kestis’s fight against the Empire takes him to the planet Koboh, and he discovers a mystery that ties back to the days of the High Republic. He finds a Jedi who’s been suspended in a bacta tank and awakens him, unaware of the dangers of what it will bring. We take a look at who exactly Dagan Gera is, and how his past with the Jedi Order influences the story of Jedi: Survivor.

The Discovery Of Tanalorr
Long before Emperor Palpatine eviscerated the majority of the Jedi Order with his infamous Order 66, Dagan Gera was a renownedJedi Master and explorer of the Outer Rim during the era of the High Republic. While exploring the Outer Rim near Kobothi Space,Gera ventured into the Koboh Abyss. Many tried to navigate the abyss but none had been successful until Gera.
The Koboh Abyss is anunchartable anomalylocated above the planet Koboh. The abyss alsoblocks any communicationfrom inside and outside of the space.
Gera managed to successfully navigate his way through the Koboh Abyss, and found a hidden world named Tanalorr. This planet was effectively unreachable through the Koboh Abyss, and Gera envisionedbuilding a Jedi Templeand using Tanalorr to train future Jedi warriors. Gera worked with his colleagueMaster Santari Khrito create a set of compasses to help navigate ships through the Koboh Abyss and lead them to Tanalorr.
Fall Of A Jedi
Unfortunately, Tanalorr was invaded by theNihil, a group of marauders from the Outer Rim whochallenged the Jedi and the High Republic. Gera tried to defend Tanalorr from the Nihil, but the Jedi Council ordered Gera to abandon Tanalorr, destroy the compasses, and wouldnot sanction a counterattack against the Nihil.
The Nihil was a galactic threat because of their ability totravel through hyperspace in unconventional waysby using “Paths.”
Gerafelt betrayed by the Counciland refused to let the Nihil conquer Tanalorr. The Jedi succumbed to the Dark Side, and began slaughtering any Jedi he found destroying the compasses, but he was too late; all the compasses except one were destroyed. Master Khritried to bring Gera back to the Light Side, but he was too far gone.
Master Khri cut off Gera’s right arm andsealed him in a bacta tankin the Forest Array on Koboh. These arrays were built toharness the Koboh Matter,and the structures were the key toreaching Tanalorr without the assistance of the compasses. Master Khri believed Gera could still be saved, so she left him in stasis within the array.
Reclaiming Tanalorr
While exploring Koboh,Kestis senses Gera and experiences a vision from his past. He sees Gera and Khri interacting on Tanalorr, and how the Nihil invaded. Gerasenses Kestis,and implores him to release him.
Kestis explains to Gera how the Republic fell to Palpatine and that the Jedi Order is no more. During Kestis’s explanation, Gerableeds his yellow Kyber Crystaland fully embraces the Dark Side. The pair fight until Rayvis, a fearsome Gen’Dai warrior, rescues Gera with the Bedlam Raiders. Before Gera was put into stasis, he was theonly person to defeat Rayvis in single combat,and that battle earned him his loyalty.
With an army under his command in the Bedlam Raiders, Gera resumes his search for the lost Koboh Abyss compass to return to Tanalorr. He kidnaps ZN-A4, otherwise known as Zee, thedroid who worked closely alongside Master Khri. However, the droid’s memory banks wereerasedby Khri, anticipating this exact situation.
Gera’s Demise
Gera fought against Kestis again when he tried to rescue Zee, but was rescued by Bode Akuna before Kestis could kill him. However, Gera discovered the location of the lost compass, and went toMaster Khri’s observatory in the sky of Koboh.
Kestis and Akuna returned to Koboh to stop Gera, but they aren’t the only ones.The Empire also deployed forces to the observatoryin hopes of claiming Tanalorr. When Kestis encountered Gera, he claimed that he’s finally free from the Jedi, and Master Khri but Kestis corrected him that he’s alone.
Gera further explained to Kestis his intentions for Tanalorr:train an elite army of Force users to destroy the Empire. Kestis tells him that wouldn’t make him any different from the current Empire, and Kestis, Gera, and Akuna engage in one final fight.
Gera gained the upper hand and mocked Kestis for not having the strength to use his emotions, but Kestis manages to use Gera’s illusions against him anddisguises himself as Master Khri. This trick forces Gera to lose focus and hesitate, allowing Kestis to strike Gera, and kill the corrupted Jedi.
