xQchas joined the hunt forMagic: The Gathering’s infamous serialisedLord of the RingsOne Ring card and seems to be spending alotof money in the process.
MTG’s highly-anticipated Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth set is finally upon us and while many are just happy to seeSmaug, Sam, Aragorn, and Gandalf in card form, most of the excitement has centred around the serialised One Ring card. As I’m sure many of you are aware, there’s only one of these cards in existence, which means that there are currently bounties on the card for up to $2 million.

With that much money on the table, the hunt for the One Ring hasbecome a huge deal both inside and outside of the MTG community, and it seems that it’s about to go even more mainstream. Despite seemingly not being into Magic: The Gathering until now, Kick streamer xQc has been streaming his attempts to find the One Ring card and seems to be spending a ton of money in the process.
In a video posted to xQc’s YouTube channel, we can see the streamer starts off by buying five Collector booster boxes, which cost around $499.99 each according to TCGPlayer, and contain 12 packs of collector boosters per box. In that one trip to the shop alone, it seems that xQc spent around $2,500, which is already more than most of us would dream of spending to find the card. It only gets more expensive from there.
In another stream that was clipped and put on the xQc Clips YouTube channel, we can see xQc making his way through another booster box. It’s possible that it’s one of the ones we saw him buy at the shop in the previous video, but assuming it’s not, that’s another $499.99. Around one hour into the stream, xQc is joined by a few friends who bring him a big box. Inside that box are 13 more Collector booster boxes, which brings the minimum total amount that xQc has already spent on finding the serialised One Ring up toat least$8999.82.
That’s assuming that the one we see him open in the first video is from his first trip to the store and not another one entirely, which would bring it up to 19 Collector booster boxes and $9,499.81 spent overall. That’s just what we can see from the streams too, as xQc mentions at one point that he’s got more.
In case you were wondering, xQc wasn’t successful at finding the One Ring, even after going through a megaton of cards. In fact, some quick maths tell us that xQc has already gone through around 3,240 cards overall in his hunt so far. Knowing him, it’s not likely to be over anytime soon.
