Mortal Kombat 1isn’t that far away, set to be with us on September 19. Despite this, we haven’t even had a proper look at the gameplay yet, withthe reveal trailer focusing on the timeline resetand this new take on characters we’ve known and loved for 30 years. But now, fans are getting the chance to try the game out for themselves, even before the pre-order beta kicks off, letting you be among the first to get your hands on the new MK.

Of course, since this isn’t a beta test, you won’t get the in-depth, polished experience that fans will expect closer to launch. Instead, your job will be stress-testing Mortal Kombat 1’s online multiplayer soNetherRealmcan get the servers running for launch day. While that means it’s unlikely to be a smooth experience, it will still let you play the game - even if we don’t have a date for the tests just yet.

While intended to push online play to the limit, you will actually be able to try out Mortal Kombat 1’s single-player offerings - albeit while signed into the online servers. This will include the Klassic Tower arcade mode and 1v1s against AI. Of course, you’ll also be able to go against other players in online matches.

Signing up doesn’t guarantee you a place in the test, but it at least puts you in the running for a spot. Of course, if you’ve already placed a pre-order, then you’ll have your place in the August beta guaranteed, which will likely be a hell of a lot more stable than what we get whenever the stress test goes live.

According to theWarner Bros. site, this test is open to anyone in North America, Latin America, Brazil, and Europe. It’s not clear if it will open up to other players before the game’s launch in September, or come to PC and Switch.

In the meantime, it’s not long until NetherRealm gives us a proper look at MK1’s gameplay. The combat reveal is set to premiere at Summer Games Fest, on June 8.
